About

We uncover the people, events, and forgotten stories that shaped our world. Real history. Deeper stories. No myths.

The Past Files tells history as a story, one case at a time. We look for the moments that were left out of the lesson: the courage, the resistance, the discoveries, and the choices that changed what came next. American history sits at the heart of the work, and Black American history is a central part of it.

How we make our stories

Each story starts with the historical record. Narration is based on historical accounts. Scenes in our videos are AI-generated illustrations, made to help you picture the moment. They are not photographs or archive footage.
